While other schools have had a couple of the big visit weekends, the Gators have held off and are set to host a slew of visitors over the next two weeks and then likely more as we move through the spring and beyond.
Here is what expected Saturday March 14.
One of the more celebrated running backs in the class that is looking at Florida is the son of world champion boxer Evander Holyfield. The younger , 4-star Elijah Holyfield of College Park (GA) Woodward Academy is already turning a ton of heads, has an offer from all of the top schools in the south and beyond and is seriously looking at Florida. He is expected in this weekend. He will be joined by one of the latest offers at the position for the gators and one of the hottest players in the state in terms of offers. 3-star Tyrek Tisdale of Orlando (FL) Oak Ridge is a versatile runner that Florida really likes and he is also expected in.
A couple of big time running backs from the 2017 class are also expected in. 4-star Bruce Judson of Cocoa (FL) is currently committed to Ohio State but should make the trip with a couple of teammates. Jamari Peacock of Yulee (FL) is an exciting plyer from near Jacksonville, he is also expected in.
The receiver position will be a priority for the Gators in the 2016 class and this weekend it will also be a priority.
3-star Rick Wells of Jacksonville (FL) Raines is already committed to Florida and will be back with teammates for his umpteenth trip to Gainesville. Along with Wells, 4-star Binjemin Victor of Coconut Creek (FL), 4-star Freddie Swain of Citra (FL) North Marion, 3-star Eddie McDoom of Winter Garden (FL) West Orange, 2-star Isaiah Johnson of Palm Beach Gardens (FL) Dwyer (Miami commit), and C.J. Riley of Coconut Creek (FL) North Broward Prep are also expected to be in Gainesville for the weekend. The only one we aren’t sure of in terms of an offer is Riley at this point.
Christian Roberson of Powder Springs (GA) McEachern is expected to be the only tight end in attendance and he has an offer from the Gators who will likely sign just one tight end in the class.
The offensive line is a priority again in 2016, but thi won’t be a big weekend for visitors in the trenches. Only one offensive lineman is expected in and Jawaan Taylor of Cocoa (FL) doesn’t have an offer just yet.
Florida is still looking to sign defensive linemen and two at the top of the list for them right now are 4-star Darius Whitfield of Mobile (AL) St. Paul’s Episcopal who Scout.com actually has listed as a guard and JaQuan Bailey of Jacksonville (FL) Raines who is expecting to get an offer from the Gators on the visit over the weekend and we may see some action in that direction before the weekend is up.
The linebacker position has to be one of the more significant positions to recruit in 2016, but the Gators have one from each of the next two classes visiting. One of the hottest prospects in the state right now is Jonathan Jones of Orlando (FL) Oak Ridge with his 20 plus offers already. He is expected in along with 2017 4-star linebacker Nate McBride of Vidalia (GA) who has been looking at Florida for a couple of years now.
Florida only signed two defensive backs in the 2015 class and will look to sign 3-4 this year. With that in mind they have a few big time secondary players visiting this weekend.
4-star Chauncey Gardner of Cocoa (FL) was committed to the previous Florida staff but de-committed in January. His stick is skyrocketing now and his interest in Florida has grown as well. He is planning on visiting Saturday. 4-star Trayvon Mullen of Coconut Creek (FL) is another bog timer at a need position and guy that the Gators would love to land. 3-star Korey Charles of Tallahassee (FL) North Florida Christian is yet another that has garnered a lot of attention from the Gators and he is also expected in.
