Nixon is digging McElwain

The Florida Gators are looking to add some electricity to their offensive personnel for the 2016 class and one of the most impressive prospects on their board at receiver is Viera (Fla.) receiver Tre Nixon. Nixon visited Gainesville on Wednesday and liked what he saw.

Tre Nixon has been looking at Florida for a while and there has been little doubt they have been interested in him, both the current and previous staff. Nixon made the three plus hour trip to Gainesville Wednesday to see what the new staff has to offer and liked what he saw.

“It was a good trip!” Nixon said late Wednesday after returning home. “I really enjoyed my time up there and meeting the new staff!”

An offensive minded head coach is something that has been missing around these parts and Nixon thinks that Florida head coach Jim McElwain is the real deal.

“I would say Coach McElwain is one big thing that stands out for me,” he said. “He is a really good guy and coach!”

Nixon already has some familiarity with new receiver coach Kerry Dixon.

“He's a good guy too I actually talked to him when he was at FIU too so we are kind of building more on that relationship,” Nixon said.

Nixon got a chance to witness the new Florida offense live at practice and watch in the film room as well. He believes it fits his style of play.

“I think it's gonna be something special what coach Mac is doing down there with the offense,” he said. “It’s really explosive and a new type of scheme.”

Nixon liked his trip and says he will probably be back to see Florida in the summer.

He doesn’t have a favorite list yet and says he is visiting Alabama this Friday and Ole Miss on Saturday. Needless to say this recruitment is going to be big time and we will continue to cover it as the process continues.
