Returning for the third week in a row is Orlando Oakridge athlete Tyrek Tisdale and this could be the time that Tisdale goes ahead and makes a decision. The versatile athlete plays quarterback for Oakridge, but will play running back, receiver, or defensive back in college.
On a day of really big names, the highest rated prospect expected in attendance is 5-star defensive end Shavar Manuel of Bradenton IMG Academy. The ridiculously athletic Manuel is someone that defensive line coach Chris Rumph is going to be on very hard during his stay in Gainesville.
The most important position for the Gators in this recruiting cycle is quarterback and one of the most important prospects for the Gators at the position is also visiting Florida for a day or two starting on Friday. Four-star gun slinger Dwayne Haskins of Potomac (Md.) is already in Gainesville as this is written and seems to be highly interest in the Gators as the Gators are interested in him. This one is one to pay attention to moving forward.
From nearby Gaithersberg (Md.) four-star receiver Trevon Diggs is another big timer making the trip to Gainesville on Friday and is already here at the time of this writing. Diggs is electric with the ball in his hands and a huge target for Florida and maybe Haskins if he were to eventually decide on the Gators.
A trio of highly regarded defensive back prospects from Kissimmee, corner Carlos Becker, safety Devon Clarke from Osceola, and friend Henry Miller from Gateway HS are expected in and have told us as late as Friday morning they were coming. Florida looks to add at least three more defensive backs to the 2016 class before done.
With the IMG 7on7 tournament happening on Saturday in Bradenton, the Gators are able to take advantage of the Friday before and host several of the nation’s top athletes. It seems to be a pattern recently.
