Gators prepared for pro day

Former Florida players will work out for NFL personnel on Tuesday.

The on-field portion of the event starts at 10:30 a.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and is open to the public. It will also be televised on the SEC Network with Greg McElroy and Chris Doering on site for the broadcast.

On the field, all eyes will be on two prospects that will likely end up in the first round -- defensive end Dante Fowler and offensive tackle D.J. Humphries.

When Fowler announced he would leave Florida early and enter the NFL Draft, he was seen as a first-round pick that had a chance to go in the top 10. As more draft experts and NFL teams watched his film, word of Fowler moving up draft boards started to circulate. Multiple mocks drafts, including Scout’s mock draft by Jamie Newberg, have Fowler going No. 3 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fowler was named to the All-SEC First Team in 2014 and was a Walter Camp second-team selection. He led Florida with 8.5 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss and 17 quarterback hurries. He started 25 career games at Florida, ending his career with 34 tackles for a loss and five forced fumbles.

Few prospects in the draft have seen their stock rise like Humphries. After starting the last two years at Florida, the only question was whether or not he could hold his weight. Humphries measured in at the NFL Combine at 6-5, 307 pounds, and he’s currently projected by many to be taken in the second half of the first round.

Last week, Florida offensive line coach Mike Summers said he’s not at all surprised that the former five-star recruit has rocketed up draft boards.

“I watched him for a whole year and I know how athletic he is,” Summers said. “I know what his upside can be, and his football instinct is off the chart. He’s going to be a tremendous left tackle. Everybody is starting to realize that.”

Humphries started 19 games at Florida and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team after playing in 12 games during the 2012 season.

Tuesday’s workout is important for a long list of NFL hopefuls from Florida. Here’s the list of players that will be joining Fowler and Humphries on Tuesday: Gideon Ajagbe (fullback),?Neiron Ball (linebacker),?Mack Brown (running back),?Trenton Brown (offensive lineman),?Clay Burton (tight end),?Kyle Christy (punter),?Darious Cummings (defensive lineman),?Andre Debose (wide receiver/kick returner),?Quinton Dunbar (wide receiver),?Drew Ferris (long snapper),?Max Garcia (offensive lineman),?Jabari Gorman (defensive back),?Chaz Green (offensive lineman),?Matt Jones (running back),?Hunter Joyer (fullback),?Tyler Moore (offensive lineman),?Leon Orr (defensive lineman),?Michael Taylor (linebacker),?Frankie Velez (placekicker), and?Tevin Westbrook (tight end).
