The expectations shouldn't be high for Jim McElwain's first team as the Gator head coach. There are absolute roster issues in this first season at the helm, especially on offense.
McElwain has been quick to praise his troops this spring and has publicly said that they continue to get better. At the same time it is hard to hide the deficiencies of a roster that s just short at a couple of positions.
Still, Saturday brings welcome change for a program in dire need of it. As McElwain and his new staff teach the players on hand what they need them to do, the players have taken to the new staff and will likely respond very positively sytarting on Saturday.
Saturday should be fun regardless and tempering expectations may be difficult anyway.
In the meantime, the staff continues to host a turnstile of big time prospects this spring. This weekend is another bg one as a couple of dozen high profile prospects will be on hand to check out the program and what it has to offer.
Bob Redman and Denny Courson continue with their coverage and candid conversations on the Gator program in the latest edition of the Gators and More podcast.
