5-star Craig still wants to visit Gators

With a desperate need for play makers on offense, the sale shouldn’t be that hard for the Gators’ top prospect at receiver. Still, getting him on campus hasn’t happened. That doesn’t mean it won’t.

It didn’t take long for Tampa Catholic star receiver Nate Craig to show up in the stats once he arrived at ‘The Challenge 7on7 tournament on Saturday. Fresh off taking his ACT test that morning and afternoon, Craig showed up in the last game of the pre-tournament session, went right down the field and scored in two plays on Team Tampa.

The Auburn commitment is big, fast, strong, and can make any catch. Just what Florida needs and wants to get on campus. He says he is still trying to get over to Gainesville.

“I just want to get up there some time,” he said following his Unsigned Preps close loss to team Tampa. “I’m still working on that visit. I want to get up there with the new coaching staff and get a feel for them. (Coach McElwain) is still telling me I’m the top guy for them and I can make plays in the offense and make plays as a freshman.”

With school in session and spring football right around the corner, Craig says a visit to Florida will come after spring and before the season.

“It will be some time in the summer,” he said. “I tried to make it in the spring but was too busy, so I will make it in the summer.

Admittedly, he doesn’t know much about the new Florida offense and what they want to do but says he chats with Gators’ receiver coach Kerry Dixon pretty often

“Coach Dixon the receiver coach, I talk to him almost every other day,” he said. “He tells me I can come in and play right away and that he wants me to come up and see him.

“He seems like a cool guy, we just talk over the Internet right now, but I see he has a great résumé.”
