Tre McKitty plays some wide receiver, tight end, outside linebacker, and defensive end for Tampa Catholic. The 6-foot-4, 225 pound is a pure athlete with time to grow even bigger and more athletic before he ever is ready to head off to college.
Last week at the 7on7 tournament he was showing his stuff.
“It’s going pretty good, I have a couple of catches and touchdowns,” he said about the tournament. “I like the competition out on the field. I like running routes and getting the ball.”
McKitty smiles when he considers lining up opposite of one of the top receivers in the country. Nate Craig, a five-star receiver from TC, should be a huge concentration for opposing defenses. McKitty sees a chance to take advantage of some open opportunities.
“It’s good, we already have a good relationship going and I am looking for a big year,” he says of playing alongside Craig.
Running a terrific 11.3 in the 100 meters and 4.6 in the 40, McKitty says his stride is something that separates himself.
“Going deep down the field, once I am open my stride, most people can’t catch me,” he said about his strengths as a player. “I am a little slow off the ball and trying to work off of that.
Florida has been a school on McKitty’s mind for quite some time. But understands he has to renew his relationship because of a new staff.
“I grew up a fan of the Gators,” he said. “I went to a camp last year so the tight end coach talked to me. I have to make a new name for myself over there.”
He will be visiting Florida this summer.
He told us what he is looking for in a school.
“If I get an offer from Florida I would be stoked,” he said. “But, what I am looking for a school it will be about if I can play right away, my major, and my relationship with the coaches.”
Tre McKitty is certainly a prospect we will be following carefully on Scout.
