“It was great to have another Florida school in the mix I was real happy that they offered me,” the 6-foot, 170 pounder said this weekend. “I really wasn't expecting them to offer as fast as they did.”
Florida defensive coordinator Geoff Collins was hired in early December and got to work fast in Georgia for the 2015 class. He is back again this year searching the Peach State for the best football players. He can’t talk to Williams in person because of NCAA rules, but he was able to relay to his coaching staff what he likes about the young defender.
“Geoff Collins came by but he really didn't say much because of my class,” Williams said referring to the rules and then stating what Collins says he likes about the young man. “He likes me being physical.”
The offer was extended through Collins, but Williams doesn’t really know what to think because he doesn’t know a whole lot about the Gators.
“There’s not much that I know,” he said. “I want to go see their facilities and see what they have to offer.”
Williams said that he will likely visit with the Gators sometime in the summer. He also said he is in no rush to hurry his recruitment given that he is still in his sophomore year of high school.
“I’m really trying to stay as open as possible for as long as I can,” he said.
He said he has never really been a fan of any one college school, but has a “big thing for college football as a whole.”
Describing his game as physical, smart, and fast, Williams will be one prospect we will continue to keep our focus on moving forward.
