4-star receiver Cleveland has Gator interest

It is a great year in the state of Florida when it comes to the receiver position and recruiting for the 2016 class. But that doesn’t mean the Gator program won’t step outside the state if they see something promising elsewhere. This is where we talk about Tyrie Cleveland of Houston, Texas.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Tyrie Cleveland moved to Houston and now is a 4-star receiver according to the Scout.com rankings. He says he does like the program from his birth state and knows a little bit about it.

“I have a lot of interest in the Gators,” Cleveland said late Monday. “I see a program that is used to winning and looking for another National Championship, The Florida Gators are unique in a lot of ways. They have an awesome fan base and the atmosphere out there is unbelievable.

New receiver coach Kerry Dixon is the point man on his recruitment and they have built a nice rapport already.

“I have a great relationship with Coach Dixon, we talk a lot,” Cleveland said. He’s a very cool guy. He likes my ball skills, my size, and my ability to make plays. He really likes my size.”

Cleveland says he gets back to the state of Florida about “every other month”, but has yet to visit Gainesville and the Gators.

“I haven't yet,” he said. “But, I will be there in the summer.”

His final decision on a school isn’t too far away. He hopes to have everything done before his football season starts in September.

“Not really, but I will have a top 10 soon,” he said about a top list. “I will make my decision at the opening or before the season.”

Cleveland did say that the Gators would likely be in that top group of schools when he announces. Scout.com will be there to cover this and every step of his recruitment along the way.
