100 wishes for Gator football: #98

Saturday marks 98 days until the Florida gators kickoff and we continue with our good wishes for Jim McElwain’s first go as the Florida head coach. Today we are going to wish for a few more transfers.

The problem with this edition of the Florida Gators isn’t the total roster, but there are some big holes that are apparent, especially when you consider the lack of age and experience.

Nowhere is that lack of experience more apparent than along the offensive line where the Gators have exactly one upper classman on the roster at this point. That senior is Trip Thurman and we don’t even know what we can get from Thurman given his health at this point.

At linebacker it is much of the same. The numbers aren’t as harsh, but the experience is low. The top two most experienced starters missed the entire spring and there is more and more concern that senior middle linebacker Antonio Morrison won’t make it to too much or any of the season.

The Gators got a graduate transfer at quarterback in Josh Grady, and a transfer straight up from Oregon State in Luke Del Rio. But another graduate senior wouldn’t hurt to come in here and compete.

There are guys out there at all three positions, really the only three where they are needed and getting one or more at any of them would be a real blessing… especially if we are talking about players with good experience at the top level of college football.

So, how possible it is? I think the odds of getting a couple of more and the various positons is very likely. Getting a couple of linemen would be the most ideal in my opinion and I think that is possible. If they can get a couple of able bodies with experience up front, the outlook for the season on offense would increase dramatically in my opinion.
