It is no secret that gator recruitniks are getting a bit edgy as far as the recruiting goes. Jim McElwain and his Florida staff have done alright in terms of sheer numbers at this stage of the process. There is little doubt they are worried about the stars given by the different scouting services, but there is also little doubt that they need to fry some big fish and the sooner, the better.
With 12 commitments right now, the star level isn’t the usual high and so this class needs a little jump start.
That jump start would come in a big way if Florida could land one of the two main targets at quarterback in LSU commitment Feleipe Franks of Wakulla, Florida or Houston, Texas gun slinger Dillon Sterling-Cole. Getting one of those two would likely get the receiver class rolling, a group that promises to be big time this year either way, but getting them on board early would certainly swing that momentum thing.
There are big targets all over the place on the recruiting board and it is just a matter of getting the momentum swing that a lot of recruiting fans talk about. The wish is to get this momentum thing a big boost before the staff has to really buckle down and get cranking on the season that is just 97 days ahead.
