2018 WR Jacob Copeland gets Florida offer

There are very few 2018 scholarships out there from the University of Florida, but there was a new one that went out on Monday to Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest receiver Jacob Copeland. The 5-foot-11.5, 185 pound speedster was a fit for any defender he went against Monday and the gator coaches couldn’t help but notice.

It isn’t often big time programs offer a 15 year old a scholarship but when they perform like Jacob Copeland did, the inevitable happens.

“They like my speed and the intensity that I have on the field,” Copeland said on why he got the offer after camp. (Wide receiver) Coach Dixon taught me a couple of things. He was saying to keep my grades right, they really like me and they want me to graduate early. I will be back down there on July 24th for Friday Night Lights.

They like Copeland as an X-receiver and as he says it’s because, “I just make plays.”

His big game as a freshman was against Milton where he had 180 yards and three touchdowns, but there were plenty of other highlights as well.

As for the Gators, he liked his trip and the workout in Gainesville.

“I like Florida a lot,” he said. “I like the way they play and the opportunity.”

And his goals are simple for his 10th grade season.

“I just want to keep my grades right and get better,” he said.
