Jaleel Laguins is a four-star recruit out of Oconee County High School. This 6’2” 216 pound outside linebacker is ranked eleventh nationally, and we will be sure to see him playing at the college level once he graduates in 2016.
Laguins has stayed busy this spring with his high school spring ball and playing for his 7on7 team. “It was pretty fun actually,” he said. “I feel like it went well as a whole and everyone got better.”
A lot of coaches visited Laguins during spring practice, including University of Florida’s defensive coordinator, Geoff Collins. “I like him” Laguins chuckles, “He’s a cool cat… I like the fact that they came out this spring to reestablish that relationship with me. I’m really liking the Gators right now.”
Laguins plans to be “all over the place” this summer to see as many schools as possible. He will start his summer road trip with the Gators this Tuesday (June 9) and will be heading to Florida State later in the week.Laguins listed his current top schools as Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Alabama, and Auburn. For Laguins, more than football will be affecting his decision. “I’m looking for a good education and a place that I can feel like I can go home and see my parents if need be.”
It is very clear that family is important to Laguins. “They just want me to go somewhere where I know I will be happy and they will support me no matter where I go. They just say, ‘take your time and make sure you are going to the right school for the right reasons. ‘”
Above all, Laguins is looking for one thing in a program that he will potentially sign with: “I want them to develop me into the best player that I can possibly be.”
