Game times set for Gators’ first three games

The Southeastern Conference announced game times for the first three weeks of college football season on Thursday.

Florida will open the Jim McElwain era with back-to-back night games at home.

The Gators open the season against New Mexico State at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network. The Aggies went 2-9 last season including a 1-6 record in Sun Belt play.

During week two, Florida hosts East Carolina on September 12 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. It will be a rematch of last season’s Birmingham Bowl when the Gators won 28-20. The Pirates lost two of the best offensive players in school history in quarterback Shane Carden and receiver Justin Hardy.

Florida will begin SEC play in Lexington against Kentucky on September 19 at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network. The Gators have won 28 straight games against the Wildcats.
