Expectations are high for David Sharpe. He didn’t play a lot in his freshman year on campus, but he was inserted in some key moments in the season and played very well.
At 6-foot-6 and 350 pounds, Sharpe just engulfs pass rushers and totally shuts them down when he can get his hands on them. He has large hands and long arms and he is a fit looking 350 if that is at all possible.
Sharpe came to Florida as an Army All-American out of Providence High School in Jacksonville and in recruiting circles was known for his quick feet on the edge as a guy that played a lot of basketball in high school.
Expect Sharpe to start at left tackle where he saw his time last year when called upon in emergency. If he can perform regularly this year like he did in his short time on the field a year ago, things are going to be looking up a great deal along the offensive line.
Like everyone in his unit, there isn’t much experience to draw on either from himself or those surrounding him, but physically he can be an elite player starting now.
