Martez Ivey comes to Florida as the number one offensive lineman in the country. The Apopka star was at the top of the recruiting rankings since the end of his junior season. He’s tall, has added great weight, has the long arms that coaches crave at the position, and he has technique that will allow him to jump right in and compete right away.
By the first of April Ivey was weighing in at 295 pounds but said he wanted to get down to 285 pounds when he shows up so he can put weight on the right way with the right training. If there is a knock at all it is that Ivey isn’t premium weight at this point, but it should be rather easy to get there. He says he wants to eventually play at around 310-315 pounds.
With both tackle spots open, you have to figure that Ivey would challenge for either of them from the very beginning. That is what the fans and coaches really want to happen.
