This is the year that Caleb Brantley is expected to make a meteoric rise in his level of play at Florida. Showing up at Florida with lots of accolades on the recruiting trail but not a great work ethic, Brantley has really worked himself now into a position to make a difference for this defense.
Among the top five defensive linemen on the roster, Brantley has a real chance if not likelihood to start. His lone start last season came in the bowl game against East Carolina where he put himself in position after a strong fall of really working hard.
Not getting a lot of playing time due to numbers, he still finished with 21 tackles from his interior line spot and that included four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
He’s put himself in a position physically, at 6-foot-2 and 319 pounds, to be able to not only hold his ground in the middle, but be more of a play maker that he showed at times a year ago.
Here's a flashback video the night that Brantley committed to the Gators.
