Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and linebacker Antonio Morrison were both named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award. The two will be important parts of the Florida defense this fall.
Hargreaves, who will be one of three players representing the Gators at SEC Media Days on Monday, was named a first team All-American by three outlets last season. As a sophomore, he led the team and the SEC with 13 pass breakups. Hargreaves had three interceptions in each of his first two seasons, finishing the 2014 season while picking off a pass in the end zone that sealed the Birmingham Bowl win over East Carolina.
Morrison was voted second team All-SEC by three outlets last season after leading Florida with 101 tackles. He was the first Florida player to have over 100 tackles since safety Ahmad Black in 2010 and the first linebacker to have more than 100 tackles since Brandon Spikes in 2007.
There are questions around Morrison heading into the fall. He suffered a knee injury in the Birmingham Bowl and could miss time this fall.
