Countdown to Kickoff: #52 Dorsey and Stipe

Continuing our countdown to the season with the player jersey numbers and Wednesday marks the 52nd day before the Gators kickoff the season. There are two number 52’s on the roster and they belong to redshirt freshman offensive guard Travaris Dorsey and redshirt sophomore linebacker Steven Stipe.

Travaris Dorsey will certainly get in the mix this year at guard. Blessed with the big time ability to move the man in front of him, Dorsey redshirted as a freshman a year ago but got plenty of big time reps in the spring that will make him the front runner to start at right guard this fall.

Out of Raines High School in Jacksonville, the 6-foot-2, 323 pound Dorsey plays with aggression and really knows how to stay low and get the best of whoever is in front of him. He performed well this spring but will have to step up his game with the new players coming in with the 2015 recruiting class last month.

Here is a throw back interview with Dorsey from high school.

Steven Stipe is the son of Gator Great Steve Stipe from the early 80’s. Stipe saw action in three games in 2014, but had no stats to show for it,

The 5-foot-11, 215 pound linebacker is very active on special teams and received a ton of reps this spring that should allow him a chance to get in the rotation in 2015.

As a senior at Pierce County in Waycross (Ga.) Stipe led his team in tackles with 81, while also tacking on three sacks on the season.

Here is a throwback video interview with Stipe from before his senior season in 2012.
