Jarrad Davis ready to compete for Gators

Florida junior linebacker Jarrad Davis knows there will be competition for the linebacker spots and relishes it.

He missed the last few games of the season and all of spring practice. Now Jarrad Davis is ready for action. Despite being the most experienced linebacker healthy to start the season, the Florida staff will keep the competition open at the position and Davis knows he has to come in ready to fight for playing time.

He loves the idea.

One of the things that has Davis excited is linebacker coach Randy Shannon. All of the years that Shannon has coaching up outstanding linebackers and watching them enter the NFL has the Gator linebackers and recruits alike ready to line up and fight for their coach.

For Davis, things are doubly great at this point. He is 100% healthy from injury and absolutely ready to run around and knock heads. It has been a little bit of a tough ordeal fighting through the injuries and getting back on track, but Davis is primed to return to form and be that consistent player that he was even without much playing time in his first two years.

The Gators will be counting on Davis to do well and be a part of a unit that has some talent, but not a lot of numbers. The talent will be filtered through this August until the best players come out on top and eventually get on the field this fall.

He’s not a man of many words, but Davis does share his desire to play football again and what he expects it to be like this season under a new staff.

Fightin’ Gators was there to catch Davis talking to the media on Wednesday and we are happy to bring you this short video session of him with the media.
