In this minute or so clip of Rick Wells, the Florida Gator commitment shows off his ability to get deep and get open. He also shows his ability to play the middle of the field and take on the big hit when it comes his way.
Blessed with size and strength, Wells is one of those prospects that when you show op at practice at Raines, you can immediately spot him on the field whether the action is going on or not. He is already built like a professional athlete yet has another year of high school football to play.
But don’t be fooled by his physical look and play. As soon as you sit on him waiting on the short route, he does a double move and gets by you. His favorite routes are the ‘Post’ or the ‘Go’, he literally wants to score on every play.
Wells also has an infectious smile and attitude that draws people close and want to be teammates. He’s easy to talk to and one of the real positives for Jim McElwain’s first full recruiting class at Florida.
Playing at Raines, he is competing against some of the better competition that the state of Florida has to offer. Every Friday night he matches up against some of the best and he almost always comes out on top.
A legacy Gator, Wells is a big part of a 2016 class at Florida that really needs an influx of talent at the skill positions on offense. He will be one of several to provide that and has the physical makeup to play early.
