Eric Hester talks Gator commitment

We caught up with Florida basketball’s first verbal commitment of the 2016 recruiting class; Eric Hester.

Out of Oldsmar Christian School in Tampa, the 6-foot-4 guard is staying close to home. Before the interview, Eric Hester made sure to put on his Florida Basketball shirt. Since announcing his commitment to the Gators, he says the love from Florida fans on social media hasn’t stopped.

Heavily recruited from several Division I programs, his ultimate deciding factor came down the coaching staff at Florida. Coach Mike White has followed Hester to games and made sure Hester knew what his role would be at Florida.

Hester took a couple unofficial visits to Florida; most recently on June 5th and it’s been all about the Gators since then.

“They’re going to be getting the ball out fast. They’re going to be playing a lot faster this year.” The coaching staff at Florida tells Hester he’s a “really good transition player when it comes to being in the open court.”

The four-star combo guard has an official visit to Florida scheduled for September 4th.
