Swain in constant contact with Gators

Just give him a sliver of space and that is all he needs.

Freddie Swain lined up outside for most of the night when is North Marion squad took on Pasco Friday. Outside he drew the defense of Florida commit JayVaughn Myers and while both guys played tough against each other, the North Marion quarterback couldn’t dseem to find Swain on the outside.

So, as soon as Swain moved to the slot, he caught a 30 yard pass that went for a touchdown. All he needed was a narrow space to get through and he got there.

“They were looking for me to play outside the whole night so Coach brought up the idea to move inside and it worked,” Swain said moments after his North Marion team dismantled Pasco. “I always work inside, but I moved in a little after the first quarter and cashed out. That is a good team, but we work hard Monday through Thursday and we cash our checks on Friday.”

With Myers on the opposite side, Swain said he the Gator commitment really didn’t say too much.

“He’s good, he doesn’t really say much,” Swain said. “It is hard to say anything to someone that doesn’t say much.”

Swain visited Florida for the season opener and he has been to Gainesville numerous times living just 40 miles away. He will officially visit Miami and Tennessee soon. He also moved a planned ctober 29 commitment date back because he wants to visit the West Coast.

“I think Tennessee and Miami, I don’t know when,” he said about those officials. “I have to move the decision back because I am going to the USC-UCLA game.  I will probably have a big (announcement) here in Ocala (in December).

“I am just trying to see if I can open my eyes to better opportunities and see something different other than Gainesville.”

As for Florida, he knows them well so there is no plan for an official visit, but he will be in Gainesville this coming weekend and he likes what he sees from the offense.

“I will probably be there next weekend for Tennessee – Florida,” he said. “The Gators are pretty good,… like 4th overall in yards. So it was good to see that from them.”

He also talks a lot to the Florida staff and receiver coach Kerry Dixon is on him.

“I talked to Coach Dixon (Thursday night),” Swain said. “We talked about making plays on Friday, working hard and making big plays. They have a lot of passing yards so hopefully I can come in and make a big impact.”
