Top ILB in country Mack Wilson has Gators on top

The Gators have been feeling the warm and fuzzies from several top recruits lately. But, getting linebackers to sign on in the last few years has been difficult. The Gators got a good sign on Wednesday with Lyndell "Mack" Wilson who named Florida his favorite.

Montgomery (Ala.) Carver inside linebacker Lyndell 'Mack' Wilson is the top player at his position in the 2016 class according to Scout. Nothing is more needed on the Florida Gator roster than linebacker and Wilson named Florida his leader via Twitter in what he told Scout is his "Final 8" schools to consider.

With Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Alabama, FSU, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC as his listed final 8, Wilson also told Scout that he has no visit plans or officials set and that he will be making his decision on national signing day in February.

With the Gators on top, Wilson offered up just what he likes about the Gainesville based program.

"The University of Florida is a great place to play and with great coaches," he told Scout. "I love the atmosphere at Florida and feel that I could make an impact also.

Indeed Florida has signed just one linebacker in the last two recruiting classes and the playing time is easily had. They couldn't do much better than Wilson.

Having said that, his recruitment is far from over and just about every power program in the south is still listed in his group of final 8.

Wilson was supposed to visit Gainesville this past weekend when Florida took on Tennessee and won 28-27, but couldn't make the trip at the last minute.

Stay tuned to Fightin' Gators and Scout as we continue to follow the top inside linebacker in the country.
