4-star Malik Herring loved ‘amazing’ Swamp

Four-star class of 2017 defensive end Malik Herring of Forsyth (Ga.) Mary Pearsons visited The Swamp last weekend for the big 28-27 win by Florida over Tennessee and came away impressed all the way around.

The electricity in the air for a big contest in The Swamp is usually pretty god, but Saturday it was rockin’ at a very high level. Malik Herring was ready for more of it.

“The atmosphere was amazing, especially during crunch time! I wish it would have stayed like that the whole time,” Herring said earlier in the week.

The four-star defensive end in the 2017 class is a prime target for the Gators loves the Florida defense and what they do on the field. He was watching them carefully.

“The defense was great,” he said. “I just felt like if they would have kept contain on the quarterback it would have been a different game.”

Herring says Florida defensive line coach recruits him hard and “loves the way I play” and says the staff is on him hard.

“The coaches tell me they love my film and that I can be a big factor for them,” he said.

He doesn’t know exactly which end position he would line up at Florida if he eventually chose the Gators as the program to sign with.

“I don’t know,” he said. “I would like to play weak, but if I have to play strong then I will.

As for his visit, he wants more.

“I loved it and I have to get back there soon,” he said.

Herring says he is “totally open” and the primo defensive end will certainly remain a big target for Florida as we move forward. Stay tuned to Fightin’ Gators as we continue to follow this young man in the recruiting process.
