Gators continue big visitor list for Ole Miss

It has become pretty common place now. Is there a big game in Gainesville? Then you are likely to see a very nice prospect list on hand to watch the game. There is no change this week as #23 Florida takes on #3 Ole Miss.

I believe one thing that has gone pretty much under the radar about all of these prospects continually showing up on campus is the work of player personnel director Drew Hughes and his staff of assistants that have helped the coaches at Florida bring in a constant flow of talent to check out The Swamp and what goes on at the University of Florida.

Getting them to come from far away is particularly difficult, but Hughes and company have steered many prospects from Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee to come and just check things out.

Getting them here is a big part of the battle and a great atmosphere, which is all but certain on game day, can go a long way in getting prospects to really consider the Gators as their future home and collegiate choice.

Here is another big time group of visitors that are expected to be on campus Saturday in The Swamp.

Story Line: It has been a very solid group. The more they come and mingle with the other targets the better. The best salesman continues to be Gardner who they routinely have as sort of a host for the best guys. Look for him to try and get on Burnett below early and often.

Story Line: Interesting that Barrett is expected in. Never really got the Florida offer, but here they are in October without a big name at quarterback on the commitment list. He’s committed to Auburn, but they are struggling and Gainesville is just two hours from home for him. His teammate Stone Forsythe (below) is committed to the Gators.

Story Line: Back for his third trip in four home games for the Gators. Most believe Florida is in the lead right now, but still some family members that have to be won over from what I understand. He’s a huge target for Florida that likely won’t decide anything until January.

Story Line: From just 40 miles away, most believe this one has swung in the Gators favor in the last month and a half or so. He was favoring Tennessee and doesn’t tip his hand, but he can’t like the way their offense is feeding receivers at this point. The opposite should be said for Florida right now.

Story Line: One of the most electric players in the state of Florida, just dynamic with the ball in his hands. Received a nugget this week that Gator commit Chauncey Gardner really wants him to be a part of the Gator train after playing against him last week and Nixon doing well.  The relationship between he and the staff never really developed, but he is a big time player in my opinion.

Story Line: I saw Dukes in the summer at 7on7 tournaments and was wondering why he hadn’t garnered more attention. He’s a big receiver and has really nice athletic ability for his size. He’s definitely not slow, but he got started pretty late in the process. Miami just offered so his recruitment has taken off a bit.

Story Line: Another interesting visitor that was unexpected. Good athlete that likely plays receiver in college. Currently committed to Mississippi State

Story Line: Should make his second trip in a row to Gainesville. The top offensive tackle prospect in the state of Florida and has named Florida his leader. Getting him more and more familiar with things is a big deal.

Story Line: I think this one of the top two stories of the weekend. Clayton visited Florida last week for the win over Tennessee and came away saying Florida was his leader. Florida DL coach Chris Rumph has made him a priority for a long time now. He says he is waiting until signing day, but visiting again this soon from so far away is a big sign in this man’s opinion.

Story Line: This will be Woods third trip in four games. He’s a big body from not too far down the street. He has a cousin (Zedrick Woods) that plays for Ole Miss as well.

Story Line: Hasn’t been to Florida in a whole and they have been trying to get him on campus. The gators have a lot of prospects at this position looking hard in this direction and he is another one that is an interesting name as a visitor.

Story Line: Really nasty player on the interior of the defensive line and a guy that Southern Cal wasted no time in taking a commitment from. The Gators were on him early but things went south real quick for one reason or another. He’s visiting, so that could be a sign for something.

Story Line: The other big story of the recruiting weekend. Has named Florida his leader and no other team has he mentioned, but for whatever reason they haven’t been able to seal the deal. This could be a very big trip for the young man and he is a super athlete that they love at corner, but could go both ways.

Story Line: both are back again and looking at the list below and above, they have their hands full trying to recruit a bunch of these guys to come and play with them at Florida. Allen may be the biggest recruiter from either class at this point, and getting him on campus as much as possible is a very good thing.

Story Line: The big story here is the continuous quality and quantity from this group. The Gators just keep bringing in a lot of top flight talent in both the 2016 class, but it is my impression that they are way ahead of most in the talent they continue to get visit from the 2017 class.

Story Line: Zero commitments yet for the 2018 class, but it is worth noting that they continue to bring in the best players from that class too and they are only sophomres in high school at this point.
