Barrett visited for the big game with his teammate and current Florida offensive tackle commit, Stone Forsythe. He saw a lot more than he expected.
“I didn’t think Florida could do that, so they really surprised me,” Barrett said shortly after the contest. “I really enjoyed myself. I just wanted to come and hang out with my lineman Stone. I actually thought of second guessing myself (about his commitment to Auburn), but wanted to really hang out.
He likes the way that Florida is throwing the ball over the field, something he believes he can do, but doesn’t get enough of an opportunity in high school.
“I can play any style,” he said. “I would like to pass more, that way people will be scared of my feel and also my arm. I’ve shown what I can do with my feet, but not with my arm.”
Barrett isn’t exactly sure where he stands with the Gators as communications haven’t been great, but it appears there might be an upswing coming and things could change.
“I don’t know to be honest, just chilling right now,” he said about recent talks with Florida. “They said they will hit me up, so we’ll see what happens.”
Barrett remains committed to Auburn but did say if Florida were to come calling…
“Every recruit has second thoughts, but I’m still committed to Auburn,” he said. “Auburn is number one and if I had a second choice… the Florida Gators, I would take them in consideration.
