Marco Wilson sees an elite defense at Florida

Saturday’s 38-10 blowout of Florida over Ole Miss was a good performance from every aspect of the Florida football team. One particular prospect in attendance was really concentrating on the defensive side. Florida starting corner Quincy Wilson has a younger brother that is highly recruited as a corner and Marco Wilson took notice of the ‘D’.

Florida’s defense made a statement from the first series of the game. Allowing zero points to a team in the first half that had scored every quarter of every game so far this season and was leading the SEC in scoring coming into the contest, the Gators defense dominated. It was more than even Marco Wilson expected.

“I knew Florida was going to win, but the score difference was surprising,” Wilson said shortly after the game. “The most important thing was the defense.  The defense executed and turned up some stops. They only scored one time.”

Wilson noticed that Florida’s offense also came alive in the contest.

“Every time the defense stopped them the offense capitalized,” he said.

He also noticed that the Gators defense is not just a bunch of big time defensive backs roaming around.

“I always thought they were a great defense, but now we know they are the best in the SEC,” he said. “They have the best DB’s and I realize the d-linemen were a lot better than I thought after this game.”

As the younger brother of a star football player, Wilson doesn’t really talk much about the recruiting process. It was his second game to see live and in person in Gainesville this year and there will be many more. He’s in no hurry to rush his recruitment either, but the Gators will continue to be in the mix for him.

We will continue to follow him throughout his recruitment here at Fightin’ Gators.
