It certainly wasn’t an eye popping game for a receiver to watch, but Gavin said he saw some good football and likes some things Florida has already been able to do on the offensive side of the ball in year one under Jim McElwain.
“It was a great game,” Gavin said as he was exiting the stadium afterward. “Bothe teams have great defenses. They can stop the run pretty good, and especially Florida, they have one of the best defenses in college football. I think the receivers did real well, especially number 11, and Callaway, he did his thing.”
The Gators are now the SEC Eastern Division Champions and Gavin believes it is something they have really earned.
“I think them boys deserve it,” he said. “They put on a good game. A win is a win.”
For Gavin, the Gators have stepped up their recruitment basically since he decommitted from Florida State back near the start of the season.
“They’ve kind of been moving in since the season started,” he said of the attention the staff has paid to the big time receiver. “This is the most I have talked to them since my ninth grade year. They were my second offer and we talk daily almost now. I talk to Coach Nord and he hits me up after the games and asks how I did. I was supposed to come up the last few games but didn’t make it.”
“I think I could fit here, I grew up a Florida State fan but I think I could fit here,” he said. “I play Z (outside) receiver now, but I also play in the slot too, but I like outside really.”
He will take his official visits and says that the Gators will get one of those.
“I’ve got the offers and I don’t know, I have to take all of my officials,” he said. “I will make my decision after the Under Armour game. I will have Florida State, Georgia, Alabama (and Florida). I haven’t scheduled them all yet.”
