Jeremi Powell forgoes fifth year at Florida

Redshirt junior linebacker Jeremi Powell will forgo his fifth season at the University of Florida according to a couple of sources.

The outside linebacker has been injury ridden since arriving on campus four years ago and was never scheduled to play much until this season. Injuries got in the wya again.

Undersized for most of his career at Florida, new defensibve coordinator Geoff Collins found a niice niche for Powell as a part time pass rusher. His blazig speed off the edge in practice seemes to cause a lot of headaches, But the season never really got going well for Powell as an injury here and injury there derailed a lot of playing time.

He has decided to give up the chance to play a fifth season at Florida and could transfer as a graduate or just decide to give up football and head into the business world with his degree.

Stay tuned to Fightin' Gators as we expect more attrition from the football program this winter.
