Small but strong visit list for Gators this weekend

The Florida Gators will host a handful of potential prospects this weekend. It may not be as many as some weekends, but the star power is plenty, especially on defense.

With just two weekends left until signing day, the Gators look to solidify a few visitors in this weekend and seal the deal with at least a couple that will be on the trip.

The Latest:  Eubanks has been the primary tight end target for Florida for a while now and he knows it. He also knows the Gators love to use the tight end position from the way they performed this year. This one looks to be in the Gators corner at this time, who knows what could happen during and shortly after the visit?

The Latest: Burns was already a big time prospect during and before the season. Then he went out to the Army All-American practices and dominated to move up to the 5-star status. The Gators were thought to be the front runner just a few weeks ago. Lately there has been a lot of chirping from Florida State. He visits here this weekend and has decided that next week he will split his visit with the Seminoles up with a double visit between Alabama and FSU. I think that is a good sign for the Gators if you take all that chirping to heart.

The Latest: Clayton may have taken the biggest jump in all of the Scout rankings, from the bottom fifth of the Scout300 (which is still pretty high) to almost five-star status. Clayton has recently cancelled any notion of visiting anywhere else and it appears that he is firm and will stick with his commitment to Florida. It will be interesting having him and Burns on a visit at the same time.

The Latest: Manuel is visiting Gainesville this week and FSU next week. Florida would like to get him to cancel next week's tour, and I can see that happening. He's the only DT in this class and only the second in the last two years , so he is an important fixture.

The Latest: Joseph visited Alabama last week and was pretty impressed with everything in Tuscaloosa. Then again, who wouldn’t be? He came away thinking about the Crimson Tide, but his heart is set on Florida and Randy Shannon isn’t about to let a linebacker commitment from Miami get away in my opinion. He visits this weekend and likely shuts his recruitment down in my opinion.

The Latest: I have talked with Walker and he is excited about his visit to Florida. No offer yet for the outside linebacker with a nice frame and nice pass rushing technique, but could get one if enough guys fall through the cracks this recruiting cycle.

The Latest: Robinson’s recruitment has turned into one of the strangest of the cycle. The Gators got on him early when nobody was looking at him. The reason for this is he missed his entire junior season due to an injury. Now it seems everyone wants the kid and he is enamored with that a bit. He hasn’t taken any of the standardized tests yet so he can’t visit officially, but if he makes it in this weekend for an unofficial visit with his family, I think all of the outside nonsense will end.
