Gator Gauge: Offensive Florida Targets

With National Signing Day just under two weeks away, Scout's takes a look at where they stand with a couple of offensive targets. Who is trending towards Florida?

National Signing Day is just around the corner, and with a few targets still on the board for the Florida Gators, who are true contenders? takes a look at the current trend meter, which takes a snapshot on where things stand heading into this weekend.

**Note: If you see a down or even arrow, it does not mean that Florida is out with this recruit. It just means at this moment nothing has changed (even) or the last few days this recruit is talking to another school. As always recruiting can be very fluid. Don't panic.

Tyrie Cleveland continues to trend high for the Gators since right before Christmas. The four-star wide receiver from Westfield High School in Houston, Texas is set to officially visit Florida on January 29. He took an official to TCU last weekend, and has expressed some interest in Oklahoma. The Houston pledge is high on Florida, and the Gators have the final word next weekend.

John Simpson had a great visit to Florida last weekend. In his interview with Bob Redman, he gave his visit a 10.  “I loved being able to talk to Coach Summers in a closer way,” Simpson said. “He is awesome and I love his coaching style.”

“They are up there with LSU and Clemson,” he said.

Florida did everything it could to put themselves in a good spot with Simpson. This weekend, however, the South Carolina native will visit in-state school Clemson. The Tigers have been the team to beat in Simpson's recruitment. However, many close to Clemson wonder why hasn't he pulled the trigger just yet? The four-star offensive lineman is one to watch on Monday. His trend could change rather quickly.

This one was never really trending up for Florida. Jim McElwain and his staff have also had an uphill battle to land four-star lineman Landon Dickerson. The North Carolina native enjoyed his visit to Gainesville last weekend, however, things continue to trend away. Dickerson told Scout Analyst Michael Clark this week that Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee are still in contention. However, FSU and the Vols seem like the likely option for Dickerson.

Dickerson is set to visit 'Bama this weekend and will visit either Tennessee or Georgia on the final weekend.

Nothing has really changed for Jamal Pettigrew and Florida. The Gators still have some work to do. The LSU pledge is taking visits, including an official to Florida next weekend, however, right now the Tigers are in the driver seat.

Nick Eubanks told Redman back in November that Florida was in front, and nothing has really changed to make us think otherwise. This is what Eubanks had to say about Florida after its game against FSU.

“It is amazing, I love the way they use their tight ends,” he said. “Everything they told me in the summer about the way they use tight ends came to be true. I love it.

The three-star visited 'Bama last weekend, but will be in Gainesville this weekend. Honestly, could be on "commitment watch" for this Plantation, Florida native after this trip.

The elusive Malcolm Pridgeon has been quiet when it comes to his recruitment, however, the Gators remain confident in landing the five-star JUCO offensive lineman.

UPDATE: Pridgeon was expected to visit Virginia Tech this weekend, however, because of the snow storm that visit is on hold. The Hokies cancelled all visits for this weekend due to the storm.
