Four-Star Fred Hansard Likes Florida's Tradition

Fred Hansard's stock continues to rise. The four-star defensive tackle from Princeton, New Jersey picked up his latest offer on Sunday night when Florida  pulled the trigger.

"It was an amazing feeling," he said. "I wanted this offer for a long time."

The Gators are entering a pretty stacked field. Alabama, MiamiMichigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Tennessee and Wisconsin have all extended offers to the 6-foot-3, 290-pounder. Although Florida's offer is one his newest, Hansard is very familiar with the program.

"I used to watch them when I was younger, and I loved Tim Tebow. They were for sure one of my favorites," said Hansard. "There's a lot of tradition at the Swamp; can't get no better then that. I can't wait to visit so I can learn more about the Swamp."

Hansard says he loves Florida's "fast and physical" defense and he will "for sure" visit Gainesville this spring. However, a visit to the Sunshine State is not his only planned trip.

"I'm visiting Ohio State this weekend, then Pittsburgh and Rutgers after."

AlabamaTennessee and North Carolina might also receive visits, but Hansard has not planned those yet.

Hansard remains open to everyone and has plenty of time before his signing day comes along in 2017, however, he already has an idea of what he wants in a school.

"[I'm looking at] If it has my major, and if I like the staff, and to see if I fit in."

Hansard is looking to study either sports broadcasting or forensics.
