Hours after Jim McElwain told reporters in his press conference that they are "ready to go" with the new defensive back coach, reports are out that in fact Florida has found its man. According to Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans, the Gators are expected to hire Virginia Tech secondary coach, Torrian Gray.
According to Richmond Times Dispatch's Mike Barber, who covers Hokies football, this would be a home run hire for Florida.
"Torrian Gray helped continue and build on Virginia Tech's reputation as DBU," said Barber. "Players connected with his energy and enthusiasm, and he also was tremendously knowledgeable. He was a star at Tech, playing in the NFL and had been regarded here as a rising star in coaching."
