Jeffrey Okudah, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound five-star safety from South Grand Prairie, Texas is one of the most heavily recruited prospcts in the nation and is a great athlete.
Eval: We really like Okudah's game because he's just a great all-around football player. SGP has lined him up in a number of different positions and he has played passionately at all of them. He will likely project out as a jumbo safety by the time he is done growing, but has the coverage skills and experience as a junior laying extensively at cornerback. He is long and muscular with great explosion. He can tackle well in space and tracks down faster backs with relative ease. Good coverage abilities as well as he spent a lot of time at cornerback and has the ability to play one-on-one coverage against some of the top receivers in the nation.
He is rated as a five star prospect and is the No. 1 S in Texas, the No. 1 safety in the Midlands region, the No. 1 S in the nation and the No. 18 overall prospect in the country by Scout.
As a junior, Okudah played all over the field for the Warriors; offense, defense and special teams. On defense, teams rarely tested his side of the field, On offense, he racked up over 300 yards and scored five touchdowns. He earned Scout All-Midlands (Athlete), 8-6A First Team All-District (defense) and All-American (Defense) honors for his efforts.
Okudah has accepted an invitation to play in the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The annual East vs. West match-up on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be televised live on NBC at 12:00 p.m. EST.
