It's a big weekend for Florida football. The Gators are welcoming a few big time targets this weekend, starting on Friday. Here is a look at who will be visiting.
Trey Blount will be in Gainesville on Friday morning. The four-star wide receiver is in town because of the Opening Regional in Orlando on Sunday, and will be on campus beginning at 11 A.M. Blount holds offers from several SEC programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. His most recent offer, however came from Notre Dame.
UPDATE: Blount picked up an offer on his visit
UPDATE: MORE VISITORS ON DAY ONE
The Gators hosts a Georgia pledge as well. Four-star linebacker, Breon Dixon, committed on Christmas day to the Bulldogs. The Georgia native will be hard to pull away from the in-state school, however, visiting the Swamp is the first battle won.
Another pledge checking out the Swamp is Carlito Gonzalez, who committed to Auburn last summer.
Owen Pappoe visited Florida State on Thursday and Florida on Friday. The 2019 linebacker might just be a 2019 prospect, however, he already holds offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska and West Virginia among others.
Three-star offensive tackle, Eric Douglas, has Florida, Clemson and South Carolina high on his list. The North Carolina native told Scout that he is looking for a school that has a good broadcasting school and that the Gators were a top school even before the offer.
Florida was at one point Zachary Carter's leader, although the four-star defensive end decided to drop the leader description, the Gators and Clemson are certainly two schools that have set themselves apart in his recruitment.
Carter's other offers include Auburn, Miami, Ole miss, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Tennessee.
Logan Rudolph has no favorites, however, he has listed several times: Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and South Carolina as the programs recruiting him the hardest. The top defensive end's most recent offer was from Notre Dame.
Jim McElwain is also set to host athlete Devan Barrett. The Tampa Catholic playmaker holds an offer from Florida, and the Gators are sitting pretty well with Barrett. The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder is a versatile player, who has done well at both running back and defensive back for his high school.
UPDATE FRIDAY NIGHT: MORE VISITORS EXPECTED
Alabama pledge Xavier McKinney is expected to be in Gainesville on Saturday. The Georgia native is still looking at other schools. The four-star safety has Clemson, Georgia and 'Bama high on his list, however, making a trip to Florida will do wonders for the Gators.
The Gators are also set to host a big target in the trenches, Calvin Ashley. Ashley is expected to be among the visitors, Saturday. Florida need to work to flip this Auburn commit and childhood favorite, FSU, however, having him at the Swamp for a day is not a bad way to start to move up the list.
Florida has yet to offer T.J. Moore, but the Gators could be a school that pulls the trigger soon. North Carolina, NC State and South Carolina have all offered the Charlotte, North Carolina native. Along with Florida, Moore is seeing interest from Florida State, Notre Dame and UCLA.
Here is one to put on commitment watch on Saturday. Latavious Brini is expected to visit campus on Saturday and he could very well commit to McElwain and his staff if he makes the trip. Although he has picked up new offers since his visit to Gainesville last month, Brini is still high on the Gators. Watch this space.
