Plenty of info to get to on this week's "Gator Blitz," including the big question, is a top target on commitment watch?
Four-Star Corner Close to Making a Decision?
William Poole could be closing in on a decision. The four-star cornerback has been torn between Georgia and Florida the last few weeks after his visit to Gainesville earlier this spring. His trip to The Swamp made him rethink his April decision and consider waiting until he takes official visits.
This week there is a lot of noise of whether or not he will make a decision this month still. The four-star cornerback is visiting Georgia this weekend.
“I’m going to go down with my family,” Poole told Scout national recruiting analyst Chad Simmons. “I want them to meet and talk to coaches in person have a small meeting in the office to talk business.
However, He sees opportunity with the Gators, “after this year they are losing two defensive backs, so I can come in and make an instant impact."
This is his second visit in ten days to Athens. Here is the thing, UF did a great job coming back into this recruitment and to pull even. The longer this recruitment extends the better it is for the Gators, but if he pulls the trigger sooner it looks like UGA will be the choice. This weekend we are all keeping a close eye on what goes on at Georgia.
The Battle Continues for JUCO DT
Josiah Coatney has narrowed down his list. The JUCO defensive tackle released his top four schools in order: Ole Miss and Alabama are tied for first, followed by Florida and Texas A&M.
Coatney did not want to go in-depth about his visits to UF and 'Bama earlier this week because he wanted to catch up on his school work. We respected those wishes and we are going to touch base with him this weekend. According to a few people I talked to, UF impressed him, however, Ole Miss seems to be the team to beat.
Gators in the Mix for OL
As you saw on Tuesday's Gator Blitz, Jordan Reid narrowed down his list to Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Pitt and Tennessee. The three-star offensive lineman from Michigan also expects to make a decision soon, "I am going with the flow," he said."I am talking with my parents and my coaches and trying to see what is going to be the best decision for me."
He recently visited Gainesville with his teammates from Cass Technical.
"Great environment, I really like it down there. I like the campus and everything is real close. I got to see the academics and student living [in my recent visit]. I just really enjoyed it down there."
The in-state schools have done a good job impressing Reid, however.

No. 16 RB Focused on Six
Gators in the mix for one of the best running backs in the country, Trey Sermon. The four-star 2017 target released his top six this week: Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee.
The Scout 300 running back will visit Oregon on April 26, according to Simmons.
Although Sermon lives in Georgia he is originally from the state of Florida.
Scout 300 Athlete Has Florida on Top
Kadarius Toney has Florida on top after picking up the Gators offer this week.
"They [the Gators] just moved to the top of my list right away," he said. "I like Florida as a whole. I haven't been there to visit but growing up I liked the Florida defense and the LSU defense. I just want to know for sure there is a good defense on the other side of the ball no matter where I play."
The four-star athlete from Alabama is also close to another UF target Kendarian Handy-Holly. Handy-Holly visited Gainesville for the spring game last weekend, and left saying he almost committed to the Gators...
New Offers Out
Caleb Chandler is an offensive tackle on the rise. His offer list includes: Colorado State, Louisville, Iowa State, Minnesota, Georgia State, Mississippi State just to name a few. He told FightinGators.com on Thursday night that the Gators are his top offer right now and he hopes to visit Gainesville. Chandler is visiting Georgia this weekend, however, he doesn't expect to visit any out of state schools until the summer since he also plays baseball. The Bulldogs have also shown plenty of interest in Chandler. The four-star could be on the verge of picking up an offer from UGA.
Devonta Smith is a five-star wide receiver from Louisiana with plenty of suitors. Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, LSYU, Ole Miss and Notre Dame have all offered Smith.
Four-star linebacker Levi Jones picked up his offer from Florida this week. Florida State, Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M and USC have also extended offers to the Texas native.
Defensive tackle is a position of need for the Gators, and this week UF has offered three-star Damion Daniels from Texas. His offers include: Baylor, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.
The offers in Texas continued this week. Stephan Zabié picked up an offer from Florida this week. The three-star tackle also holds offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Houston, Missouri and UCF.
Florida is also in the mix for four-star defensive back, Derrik Allen from Georgia. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville and UNC have also offered.
