Zechariah Byrd is a wanted man. The tight end from Alabama has offers from Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Michigan and Virginia Tech. Last weekend Bird made the trek down to Gainesville to see the Gators in action in the Orange and Blue Debut.
"The visit was god," said Byrd after seeing The Swamp filled with 46,000 fans. "I liked The Swamp, it was pretty good."
Although the Friday night lights brought out several UF fans to see the spring game, it was the action on the field that stood out to Byrd. "I like what they [the offense] does," said Byrd. "They throw the ball to the tight ends a lot... I liked the way DeAndre Goolsby plays and how involved he was in the offense."
Byrd says he can see himself fitting into the offense at Florida and the program.
"They [Florida staff] take care of you," he said.
Gators director of player personnel, Drew Hughes, and tight ends coach Greg Nord spent some time with the top 2017 prospect.
Hughes "is trying to get me back here," he said. Nord,"he likes me too...he wants me to put on a Gator uniform."
Byrd is set to visit Alabama on Saturday, however, he does not expect to decide anytime soon.
