Gator Blitz:Recruiting Update 4/29

The Florida staff continues to evaluate talent on the road. "Gator Blitz" recaps all of the big UF recruiting storylines of the last few days in one place.

The Florida coaching staff continues to be hard at work looking at talent this week. On Friday, just like the past four days, the coaches will continue to make the Sunshine State a priority, focusing on South Florida and the Panhandle. Some schools the will check in on, on Friday include: St. Thomas Aquinas and American Heritage.

Scout 300 Defensive End Still High on Gators talked to four-star defensive end Zachary Carter on Thursday, and although Clemson and Florida seem to be the two teams in good shape, he is trying to visit other schools this summer including Georgia, North Carolina Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Florida, Florida State and Clemson.

"I love everything about the Gators," what the coaching staff did in one year, I'm expecting great things from the Gators."

He did visit Clemson for their spring game, a experience he said you have to witness it to describe. It seems his parents also were pretty impressed. I will have that full story up soon on the site.

Among the Top

C.J. Cotman has an unofficial top five: Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee. The Gators have made sure to make Cotman feel like a priority.

"They communicate and I like when teams communicate good things about the schools and how I fit into the program and to change the program around," he said on Wednesday.  "They like me at receiver because of my speed, and how I can break away with my speed, but my heart is on defense. I want to play cornerback when I go off to college, so they tell me I can do that too."

He is trying to visit all the schools listed above.

Four-Star Running Back Pursued By Gators

Adarius Lemons continues to see interest from many schools despite his commitment to UNC. Florida is one school that stopped by this week. Lemons is still haring to schools but is content with the Tar Heels. It was a schools he remains focused on. It will be a tough flip.

The good news, however, Lemons is willing to listen to UF.

"The Gators they show me play for my home state team. They feel like they can have a dream team with some of the other players that around the area. It's good that they see that and I'm taking heed to that. “I want to preserve my body”

No. 1 Guard Tedarrell Slaton has a Number One

The American Heritage standout recently told Scout Analyst Corey Bender that Clemson is his number one, however, he is still looking at Michigan, Florida State and Florida. His teammate, Kai-Leon Herbert, has been talking up the Gators lately and Slaton has been listening.

"It's a great program," said Slaton. "They put some of the best guys in the NFL. Something about the that blue that pushes me over the top."

Odds and Ends

Florida offered Fredericksburg (Va.) Riverbend defensive end TyJuan Garbutt. Garbutt is committed to the Hokies, and I do think he will be hard to sway him away from home. Garbutt was between UVa and Virginia Tech for a while, and one reason was because of their proximity to his home. This is going to be a hard flip, you could say nearly impossible.

Zechariah Byrd made a visit to Gainesville for the spring game a couple of weeks back. Byrd, who wants to be an anesthesiologist, took a tour of the campus and learned about the academics and program.

"I liked everything about it,' said the three-star tight end. "They say I can do everything."
