Florida continues to check in on talent across the board. Last week the Gators focused on many of it's in-state talent, this week, the staff are focused on a few targets out of state. Running backs coach Tim Skipper is heading to Louisiana/Alabama to see a few targets there, while defensive backs coach Torrian Gray also is checking out a few targets including: Alabama pledge Xavier McKinney and A.J. Terrell.
However, there are some more big stories we followed this week and continue to follow:
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions
Several targets are expected to make their decisions the next few days. Lets take a look at where things are trending with some of the athletes deciding.
Juwan Burgess is expected to make his announcement on Wednesday at his high school. In his interview with FightinGators.com, he did hint at a possible mother's day decision, however, this weekend he decided the time was now. The schools that seem to be in the best place with the four-star athlete are: Clemson, Miami and Florida. The Gators are looking at him as a safety. Miami and Florida seemed to have the edge, however, talking to a few sources, it seems like things are trending the Canes way.
JUCO defensive lineman Josiah Coatney is expected to make his decision this week between Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. At this moment it seems like Ole Miss is the team to beat, with 'Bama following right behind.
**UPDATE** Coatney tells us he is down to Ole Miss and Alabama.
Scout 300 DE Still High on Florida
Zachary Carter continues to remain high on the Gators. The four-star defensive end has had Clemson and UF up top for a while, however, in a recent interview he admits he is keeping his options open. He will venture to a lot of different schools this summer. The Gators, however, should remain confident in his recruitment.
UF, Badgers on Top for Linebacker
Florida continues to remain high on the list for James Houston IV. The American Heritage linebacker continues to see two school stand out for him: UF and Wisconsin.
"I love everything about them [the Gators," Houston told Analyst Corey Bender. "Coach [Randy] Shannon is a great coach; coached a lot of the linebacker greats. Great program, put out great players... great business school."
The Badgers were the first to offer Houston, "they believed in me first."
Houston recently visited Gainesville for the spring game.
Odds and Ends
- UF pledge Daquon Green told FightinGators.com this past week, he remains solid to the Gators, however, he wants to visit a few schools: North Carolina, Ole Miss and Michigan. STORY LINK
- 2018 four-star defensive lineman Stephon Wynn hopes to visit Florida. The Clemson legacy, however, will be tough to take away from South Carolina.
- 4-Star Henry Ruggs hopes to make his decision this summer. He has no favorites at this time
The Gators offered a JUCO offensive tackle on Tuesday, D'Marcus Hayes. Hayes' stock is rising quickly. He also picked up an Arkansas offer.
The Gators are the latest to offer top defensive tackle Jordon Scott. "I was a Florida fan when they had Tim Tebow, but since I've became a recruit, I'm not a fan of any colleges because it'll make me bias," Scott told Scout's Corey Bender. "They were my favorite team when Tebow was there, though."
UF is expected to be a huge player in his recruitment. He also has offers from FSU, FAU, Indiana and Iowa State among others.null
