The remaking of the receiver unit at Florida continues to happen as redshirt sophomore Ryan Sousa has asked for and been granted a release to transfer his scholarship elsewhere.
Sousa, who saw action in just two games in his career has no stats as a receiver at Florida. The central Florida native will have to sit out the 2016 season elsewhere and then can play in the 2017 season.
The Gators added five receivers in the off-season and all were projected to be ahead of Sousa on the depth chart in the fall. Junior college transfer Dre Massey and freshmen Joshua Hammond and Freddie Swain all saw much more significant time on the field during practice this spring.
Highly touted freshman Tyrie Cleveland and fellow rookie Rick Wells haven't stepped on campus, but noth are expected to compete when they arrive on campus as well.
The numbers at the position are still in great shape. Besides the five newcomers, Florida has junior Alvin Bailey senior Ahmad Fulwood, junior Brandon Powell, junior C.J. Worton, , redshirt freshman Kalif Jackson, and depending on his status, sophomore Antonio Callaway to compete for playing time in the fall.
Stay tune to Fightin' Gators and Scout as we have more on this an other roster changes.
