Offers poured in this spring for Shawn Davis. The three-star Miami Southridge cornerback picked up offers from Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Miami (Fl) and USC the last few months and many of these programs have stopped by his high school.
"The in-state schools [have stopped by]," he said. "Out of state, Louisville, Oregon State, West Virginia and a couple of more."
Although Davis' stock has certainly risen, one local school has continued to pursue the playmaker from South Florida consistently.
"Florida is recruiting him the hardest," he said. "They been saying come to the school and play early."
Davis has taken plenty of trips to Gainesville to see UF practice this spring, "I like the way they [the staff] are talking and I like the environment."
He has also been able to connect with Gators defensive back coach, Torrian Gray.
"He means what he says," said Davis. "He is coaching the DBs and getting them right."
Davis' teammate, Kemore Gamble, committed to Florida after the Orange and Blue Debut in April. Since then Gamble has been giving Davis quite the recruiting pitch.
"Yeah he has," Davis laughed. "He is trying to say come up there and continue the chemistry."
Davis is focused on finishing off spring practice with his team before taking the next step into his recruitment.
"Everybody is pretty much telling me the same thing," he said. "I don't know how I am going to make my decision. I am going to try to take all my visits this summer before I make my decision...I am going to decide in the summer."
Although he has not set all of his visits, there is one school he wants to see.
"I want to visit USC," he said. "They've been telling me to come up there."
