The spring evaluation period is winding down and the Gators coaching staff are making sure they are seeing everyone they can before it is over. Florida defensive coordinator, Geoff Collins, is hard at work in North Carolina on Thursday. Collins is checking in four big time targets in the Tar Heel State.
Germane Crowell visited Gainesville over the spring. Although his trip to Florida was a success, the defensive back from Carver High School decided to commit to Virginia. Crowell is a UVa legacy, with both his father and his uncle both playing for the Cavaliers. Unless the Cavs have a complete meltdown this fall, this will be a hard pull for UF.
K.J. Henry is a wanted man. The 2018 prospect already holds some big time offers from: Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, FSU, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, UNC, Ohio State, Pitt and many more. The four-star defensive end's most recent visit was to UNC.
Torrian Gray and Collins are huge fans of Hamsah Nasirildeen. The four-star safety told FightinGatrors.com after his visit that Florida made a very good impression on him and the Gators would be one of his top schools, and UF did in fact make the cut. His top five are: Alabama, Florida, Clemson, Florida State and South Carolina. At this moment, 'Bama looks like the team to beat.
Collins checked on a second prospect committed elsewhere on Thursday, Ryan Jones. Jones made his pledge to North Carolina in February. The four-star wide receiver seems to be a solid pledge to UNC at the moment, but he is still listening to programs and says he hopes to visit other schools this fall. Jones is set to graduate early from Mallard Creek.
