The Florida Gators staff have been busy. The coaches have hit the road to a few satellite camps, while also hosting several visitors and camps in Gainesville. Here is a look at whats on the docket the next few days:
Ventrell Miller is on campus on Friday. The linebacker from Kathleen High School was offered from Torrian Gray this spring and quickly moved up the board rather quickly. Miller holds offers from Florida, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Missouri, NC State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and California among others.
Florida will have a mini-camp on Saturday, however, some top recruits are expected on campus as well.
William Barnes picked up his offer last week, when he was one of the best performers at Florida's OL/DL camp. The Apopka tackle is coming to campus this weekend for a visit rather than to participate in the camp-last time he did not have a chance to check out everything around the school.
No. 9 athlete on Scout, Tray Bishop, is expected to be in Gainesville tomorrow. Auburn, Florida and Georgia are the three schools he is focused on right now. Gators is looking at Bishop as a DB.
Three satellite camps on Sunday:
- June 12: Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia (Florida/Maryland/ODU will be at this camp)
- June 12: Sound Mind, Sound Body Camp (Tampa, Florida)
- June 12: Wayne State (Detroit, Michigan)
Jimmy Jaggers is expected to travel to Gainesville on Sunday and then take a tour around Florida and speak with the coaches during his two day visit. The No. 12 tight end wants to decide in July. Orginally UF was meant to be his last unofficial, however he will not take a visit to Alabama.
Monday could be an eventful day.
The Gators are also expected to host a group from South Florida that could include Christopher Henderson and Joshua Jobe. There are some other possible visitors from Miami on that day, however, none confirmed. The group is expected to make their way down on Sunday night.
- June 13 Valdosta State Camp in Richmond Hill (Savannah, Ga.)
- June 14: Valdosta State Football Camp (Valdosta State University Field House in GA)
- June 14 Episcopal High School , Jacksonville Fla.
Remaining Satellite Camps:
- June 15: Valdosta State Football Camp (Marietta, HS)
- Valdosta State Football Camp (Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia)
- June 17: Blount High School in Alabama
- June 17: Booker T. Washington High (Pensacola, Fla.)
Justin Watkins is also expected to visit Florida this week. The top 2018 athlete from Vanguard is trying to figure out a time to head to Gainesville, he said he could possibly visit tomorrow. This one is till TBD.
Gators Offer Legacy
Florida offered Jordan Pouncey after he impressed both Geoff Collins and Jim McElwain at the camp in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday. Pouncey is one of the hottest 2017 prospects, picking up 30 offers the last few months. Notre Dame is in good shape early and he is expected to visit the Irish for their Irish invasion. Alabama is another school make its case.
His connection with UF, with his cousins playing at the Swamp, will certainly help the cause. I don't think expect Pouncey to make a quick decision just because of how quick his recruitment took off, but the Irish is expected to go after him hard.
One thing of note, Florida is also looking at him as a defensive back, while a lot of the other schools see him as a wide receiver.
Trinity Teammates Continue to Put Florida High on Lists
Nothing has really changed with Trinity Christian Academy teammates, Shaun Wade and Tyreke Johnson. Both of them are still evaluating their options. Wade and Johnson will be taking a few visits the next few days to several schools with their Pro Impact 7-on-7 team: Georgia, Georgia Tech, the North Carolina schools, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Ohio State are just some of the schools they will be checking out.
Wade will also have one extra visit thrown in there. The four-star Ohio State pledge is also expected to visit Alabama next week. His grandmother lives in Montgomery and many believe he the Crimson Tide to be the front runner to flip him. Also of note, his visit to Ohio is his second this month.

On the other hand, Johnson is hesitant to name favorites, however, he is not shy about talking about his love for UCLA and those west coast schools. This one is going to one to watch to see if his love for the California schools continues the next few months. Florida remains in it because Torrian Gray and Tim Skipper continue to show Johnson he is a priority.

No. 16 Athlete Considering Florida
Markquese Bell is high on Florida's board, and he remains interested in the Gators. Michigan, Ohio State and Rutgers are also three schools to watch with Bell. Torrian Gray has done a good job of keeping UF in the middle of his recruitment. However, Bell's grandmother will be the key. Wherever she feels comfortable, he will ultimately go. Is Florida just a little too far?
Odds and Ends
- Curtis Dunlap Jr. does not have a leader anymore. The 2018 offensive guard initially stated that the Oklahoma Sooners were head, however, he is not taking it back and saying he does not have a leader. The IMG Academy standout says Florida, FSU and Oklahoma continue to recruit him the hardest. The staff made a BIG effort this spring to hit IMG Academy and it's showing. STORY LINK
