2018 OL William Barnes enjoys his second trip to the Swamp in two weeks.

William Barnes made his second trip to The Swamp in two weeks, and his first to see Florida since he picked up his offer. The Apopka offensive lineman discusses his visit to Gainesville with FightinGators.com

It has been an eventful few weeks for William Barnes. The Apopka offensive lineman picked up an offer from Florida two weeks ago, and in the next two days he has added two more suitors to the list: Duke and South Carolina. Although Barnes admits he has a lot to learn about his two new offers, he has become well acquainted with the University of Florida. Over the weekend, Barnes made his second trip to Gainesville in two weeks, and his first since picking up his offer from the Gators.

"I like it [UF] a lot," he said after his trip to Gainesville. "I loved the way they do their academics up there too."

During his trip to Florida on Saturday, Barnes was taken on a tour around campus which included a stop in the new student athletics center.

"I didn't know they were getting a new student athletics center just for athletes to come do study hall and get great food," he said. "Only saw the first floor because they are still finishing up.... What stood out the most was the built in air conditioner in the player pads-that blew my mind."

The tour and the academics certainly left a good impression on the 2018 offensive lineman, however, the visit did not end there. Barnes was already familiar with both offensive line coach Mike Summers and Head Coach Jim McElwain, after camping with the school two weeks prior, however, their relationship continued to blossom.

"I love coach Summers, the offensive line coach. He's a great person and coach, and also coach McElwain. I saw a man that's willing to do anything for his players and to get them to a national title and the pros," he said. "They think I'm an outstanding football player and person and would love if I came to their school, and [the coaches say] that they would take good care of me,"

Although he experienced Summer's coaching style when he camped at Florida, Barnes was intrigued to see Summers at work again on Saturday at Florida's mini camp.

"I thought it was great to be honest," he said. "He gets you to get every detail right, and I see that a lot in my offensive line coach, James Delgado. So it's really familiar to me."

Although still very early in the process, where does Florida stand?

"They still stand at one of my top choices," he stated. "I may be visiting Florida again next Friday or Saturday but other than that not sure."

Right now Barnes is simply "enjoying the process of recruiting," as new offers roll in.
