"It went well," said the 2019 athlete after leaving campus. "Better than I expected it to be. I took a tour and hung out with [defensive back] coach [Torrian] Gray and [Florida head] coach Mac [Jim McElwian]."
"The love the staff showed. It was genuine," he said. "Coach Mac told me to stay humble and to keep my smile. Told me he wanted me to close my eyes every night and imagine myself in orange and blue.
"I really liked the coaches," added Sheffield. "They were really nice. My mind has changed about them. Gives me something to think about."
Although the Georgia native spent a significant time with both Gray and McElwain, he was also able to speak with UF assistant Kerry Dixon.
"Met with the wide receivers coach Dixon. He showed me some stuff," he said. "Dixon showed me film of the wideouts."
The 2019 athlete is a versatile playmaker that has seen schools like: Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson, Auburn, Miami, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, West Virginia and Tennessee offer.
"I tell people [I prefer] wide receiver, but I'm open for anything," said Sheffield. "I just want to help my team win and get a good education."
According to Sheffield, Clemson, FSU and Miami have all shown plenty of interest early on, and he expects to visit Georgia next-his cousin is UGA pledge Richard LeCounte. However, a visit to Athens this summer is not set in stone, since he wants to focus on his upcoming season with Frederica Academy.
"I want to get better with route running and field vision this next season."
