The day has arrived. Friday Night Lights will fill the Swamp with some of the top players in the country. "Gator Blitz"takes a look at the expected visitors. Who is on commitment watch?
It is finally here. The biggest recruiting night of the summer for Florida, Friday Night Lights. This is going to be a star studded affair with several four-star and five-star prospects all descending upon on Gainesville. The Gators could see themselves adding some new faces by the end of the night.
Lets starts with who is on commitment watch on Friday.
James Houston IV has been down to two for a while now. Wisconsin and UF are the two finalists vying for the American Heritage linebacker, however, it seems that the Gators have snuck ahead. I could see Houston committing before the weekend is over.
Shawn Davis is always on commitment watch when he steps foot on campus. The three-star cornerback is friends with Florida pledge, Kemore Gamble, and has a great connection with the staff.
Two other names worth mentioning here is four-star defensive tackle Fred Hansard and three-star cornerback Marco Wilson. Although Hansard has leaned towards Michigan and Ohio State for sometime, he has also voiced his admiration for Florida. Since the four-star will be on campus anything can happen, although it is not the likeliest scenario. In the same vein, all signs point to Wilson ending his recruitment very soon. The American Heritage playmaker looks to be down to Miami and Florida, however, don't discount USC here. It will be interesting to see how Friday Night Lights alters this recruitment.
Here is the expected list of visitors for Friday Night Lights. There are a few like Alex Leatherwood, Jarez Parks and DeAngelo Gibbs remain maybes as the night draws near. Parks and Gibbs were also expected at Alabama on Friday. Parks was in Tuscaloosa on Thursday. So as of Thursday night Parks and Gibbs are doubtful to be at UF, although more confident about Parks since, according to Analyst John Garcia, he originally was meant to take a one day trip to Alabama.
Some guys like Devon Hunter and Tray Bishop who originally were on the list are now not. Hunter is expected to visit next week, while Bishop is not expected to visit. Bishop, however, did visit this week and then pushed back his commitment date-good news.
Brendan Gant was also on the original list, however, he told me on Thursday night that he was not expecting to attend. Chadarius Townsend, who visited earlier this week, is now expected to be at Alabama rather than Friday Night Lights.
