The competition was pretty good, but Rahyme Johnson thought he was able to handle what he needed to.
“It went very well,” Johnson said of his time on the field Friday. “I only had two passes caught on me by what was supposed to be one of the best running backs this way. I won about 90% of my reps I went through the drills well, it was a great day.”
As for the trip to Gainesville and his chance to meet up with the Florida coaches and players…
“I am loving it so far,” he said noting that he will leave about 1:30 on Saturday and have a chance to meet with the staff again. “I definitely think when the offer comes they will be in my top ten and they will definitely get an official visit.
One of the things that really stood out to Johnson on this trip was the difference a school like Florida and a community like Gainesville is compared to back home.
“Just the city and driving around, it is a lot different than LA,” he said. “It is a culture shock, it’s real cool.”
Tim Skipper was the assistant that convinced him to visit from out West. Randy Shannon taught him a few things on the field.
“I am being recruited by Coach Skip, but I worked with a few of the coaches like Coach Shannon,” Johnson said. “He is a real cool coach. He taught me some cool stuff.”
When asked to reveal something he learned, he joked that he is going to keep that to himself.
“I have to keep that a secret, somebody might be listening,” he quipped.
What is the thing he will take away most from the visit?
“Just getting to talk to all the coaches and the coaching staff and get a feel for them,” he said.
