Scout 300 DT Fred Hansard felt comfortable at Florida

Fred Hansard made his first visit to Florida on Friday and the Scout 300 defensive tackle is now nearing a decision. The four-star defensive lineman discusses his visit.

When Florida  offered Fred Hansard back in January, it was an offer he wanted for a long time. On Friday, the Scout 300 defensive tackle made his first trip down to Gainesville to see the team he watched growing up.

"The visit was really everything I imagined. I absolutely loved it," said the Hun School defensive lineman. "We did everything I was there till 9am-8pm so it was a long day."

Hansard toured around the campus and the facilities on his visit, and was very impressed by the tradition not only on the field but also in the classroom.

"The academic part for sure stood out, and how I really felt comfortable there," Florida is in a great place right now. Just the staff and the players and commits [made me feel comfortable]."

The New Jersey native received plenty of attention from the staff. Head Coach Jim McElwain and defensive line coach Chris Rumph gave Hansard plenty to think about.

"They wanted to make sure to let me know I am a huge piece to the program. I am one of their remaining top targets and they really want me bad," he said. They love what I bring to the table with my play."

The camp portion of his visit allowed Hansard to see Rumph in action.

"I love that he lets his players play with their own styles."

With this visit in the books, Hansard is ready to move to the next step in the recruiting process.

"I might take one more visit, but my decision is coming real soon," he said. "I would say most of the schools in my Top 9 are recruiting me hard. When it happens it's just gonna happen.

"I really just have to feel comfortable," added Hansard. "I have to think can how would life be outside of football."
