4-star CB Marco Wilson commits to Gators

The Florida Gators have been on a bit of a run since Friday Night Lights a little over a week ago and that continue Monday evening as Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage 4-star cornerback Marco Wilson pledged to be a Gator on a nationwide telecast of Gridiron Sports.

Wilson gave his commitment to the Gators via his father’s blog talk radio show “The Gridiron Studs Show”. Wilson said he was ready to be a Gator.

"There have been a lot of ups and downs in the process," he said. "There are a lot of coaches that stuck with me.... But the best choice for me is to commit to the University of Florida."

Marco Wilson is the younger brother of current Gator corner Quincy Wilson who will start this year as a junior and is expected to be a big time contributor for the Gators.

Marco however is a bit of a different player than his older brother. While Quincy is the huge corner with excellent strength and big time physicality, Marco brings physical play to a more athletic package that can take on the smaller and quicker receivers that a lot of times see the field in the SEC.

Wilson joins a recruiting class with one other cornerback prospect in 4-star Elijah Blades, and only the second player in the secondary in a class that should have a large contingent of players from the defensive backfield.

The 13th commitment in the 2017 class for Florida head coach Jim McElwain and his staff, the Gators are edging ever closer to a top 10 class.

Stay tuned as we bring you more from Wilson’s commitment as soon as we can get it.
